Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome: A Pain in the Gut?
Summary
This presentation will give an overview of the anatomy of the horse’s stomach, clinical signs of gastric ulcers, diagnosis, and treatment options. Risk factors for the development of gastric ulcers and methods of prevention will also be discussed.
Presenter Information
Dr. Jamie Pribyl received her undergraduate degree from Lake Superior State University and then attended the University of Minnesota where she obtained her DVM. After completing an equine internship at Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital in Washington, Dr. Pribyl joined Buffalo Equine in Buffalo, Minnesota. She practiced at Buffalo Equine for 13 years and was a managing partner for 12 years. In January of 2020, she joined Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health as a Professional Services Veterinarian. Dr. Pribyl’s professional interests include asthma, geriatric medicine, reproduction, and gastrointestinal disease. She is a member of the AAEP’s Wellness Committee and is passionate about professional wellness and leadership.
