Introduction to Environmentally Friendly Horse Management

Then consider joining us for this webcast, in which we will discuss an overview of different aspects to consider in being environmentally friendly such as manure management, runoff management, facilities management, stream and watercourse management, pasture management and more!

Presenter Information

Dr. Jenifer Nadeau is an Associate Professor and the Equine Extension Specialist for the University of Connecticut. She has worked for UConn since 2001, and grew up riding and working with horses including trail, hunter/jumper, draft, and race horses, and rides both English and Western. Her research focuses on Equine Health, while she teaches Animal Nutrition for undergraduate students and working in Extension Outreach with adult horse owners and 4-H horse project members.

Dr. Nadeau is a native of Schenectady, New York. She graduated from the State University of New York at Morrisville College in 1993 with an Associate’s in Applied Science degree and received her Bachelor’s of Science in 1995 in Animal Science - Equine Option from the University of Kentucky. She received her Master’s degree in Comparative and Experimental Medicine from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and her Ph.D. in Animal Science in August 2001 also from the University of Tennessee.

She loves working with youth and teaching them best management practices and watching them blossom into knowledgeable adults. Jenifer is a member of the American Youth Horse Council Publications committee, a member of the American Society of Animal Science, a superintendent of the Horse Bowl Committee for the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup, a member of the Teaching/Extension committee for the Equine Science Society, and the secretary of the National Equine Extension Executive Council. Jenifer enjoys trail riding with her students in the UCONN Forest. She also loves hiking and camping with her boyfriend Dave, and their dogs Willow and Goldie.
