Did you know...?
Did you know that when manure is not managed properly, its contaminants can make their way into the water and cause problems? |
| e-Tip of the Week
Planning suggestions for preventing water contamination, being a good neighbor, and having healthy, happy horses:
- Place manure storage at least 150 feet away from water sources, including wetlands, streams, creeks, ponds, lakes, and ditches.
- Remove or utilize a manure storage pile at least once a year.
- Keep your pile small and camouflage it by surrounding it with nontoxic shrubs, flowers, or by building a storage container.
- Keep manure away from where horses live.
